As
the importance of specialized nurses in the field of rehabilitation nursing is
growing, Korean Academic Society of Rehabilitation Nursing (President Lim, Nan
Young) opened courses of rehabilitation nurse, providing nurses with the
opportunity of acquiring expertise.
These
courses provide in-depth theories and practical training in the field of
special rehabilitation that nurses are not familiar with. In the first training
course of skin and language rehabilitation held at College of Nursing, Seoul
National University (the 13th ~17th), 40 nurses from the
rehabilitation wards participated in the course.

Jung Ok (Director of Skin Rehabili-Center (Clinical Lab & Academy), Lee, Hae Ok(Chief Nurse
specialized in ostomy, Seoul Asan Medical Center), Nurse Yoon, Mi Seon (language
therapy specialist, Professor at Korean Nazarene University) and experts from
various fields deliver lectures on the rehabilitation of burned skin, ostomy,
wounds; incontinence care; child language disorders and so on.
President
Lim, Nan Young said the purpose of the programs was to prepare a system for
specialized rehabilitation nurse and the qualified rehabilitation nurses must
be deployed in various fields such as general wards, nursing homes, elderly
hospitals and industrial sites to help the rehabilitation of patients and
transmit know-how to general nurses.
The
society is also planning to provide rehabilitation nursing education programs in
the field of exercise, breathing, heart
and stroke, etc.
